🚑 East Midlands Ambulance Service Wait Times Improving!
Our NHS is the number one issue for many in North West Leicestershire. As a rural area, one of the top concerns I hear from constituents is ambulance wait times.
In addition as a former county councillor I have had several Health Scrutiny Commission meetings where ambulance wait times have been discussed.
I’m pleased to share that over the past year, wait times have decreased across all categories:
📉 Category 1: 7% reduction
📉 Category 2: 27% reduction
📉 Category 3: 31% reduction
📉 Category 4: 22.5% reduction

Yesterday’s Spending Review announced an additional £29 billion per year to support the NHS, with further increases of 3% annually.
Today in Parliament, I asked the Minister how this investment will continue driving down ambulance wait times for people in our area. ... See MoreSee Less

Category descriptions: 📉 Category 1 (life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest) 📉 Category 2 (emergencies involving serious conditions that may require rapid assessment or urgent intervention) 📉 Category 3 (urgent but not life-threatening) 📉 Category 4 (less urgent calls)
Gavin Breakell I'm not entirely convinced that Blackpool Victoria is covered by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
Years ago in the 90’s, when I had seizures etc, and I was in hospital, my GP would send me a letter to make sure everything was ok, these days, my GP has never done a yearly review of my seizures and other things that have happened!!!

I've had several people ask, so here's a short explainer on yesterday's spending review.
🧾What’s a Spending Review?
It’s how the Government sets departmental budgets for services we all use, like the NHS, schools, and transport, and plans investments in infrastructure to grow the economy. They usually take place every 3 or 4 years, following a budget event (which took place in the Autumn of last year) where taxes, economic forecasts, and the total money available to spend are set out. The spending review then allocates this money.
There has not been a spending review for more than a decade. These reviews take every government department and reviews all of the budget lines. This will
allow longer term decision making and will be helpful to allow for investment decisions as well as day to day spending.
Yesterday’s review was all about backing Britain’s future, investing in our security, our health, and the economy to rebuild Britain. This means:
✅An extra £29bn per year for the day to day running of the NHS: more doctors, more appointments, better care
✅£10bn to digitise the NHS with a 50% boost in tech funding
✅£22bn boost for our armed forces and intelligence agencies
✅Investing in transport, defence and energy infrastructure
✅£190bn more for public services and £113bn extra investment to rebuild Britain ... See MoreSee Less

A spending review should go hand in hand with a budget and tax review. Tax payers should be given options and allowed to vote on spend reviews. You're spending money you don't know you have. We'll all be impacted when the autumn budget tells us how much more tax we'll be paying for this.
Ivanhoe Railway Line ??
Our grandchildren, great grandchildren and beyond will be paying for the borrowing which you reckless lot are undertaking all while the floodgates remain wide open for the blood sucking illegals, why are you throwing taxpayers cash at these while many of our own live in poverty.

Sorry to spoil the good fun on this. With the MP's letter and publicity seeking, it has become politicised: I have it on good authority that it was the hard-slog lobbying and scrutinising process that some parish councillors, including me, have been going through. right up to the last traffic count in March and the notification that the matter was being referred to a higher County committee, led to this great result. The additional funding was accessed by county officers before the MP wrote requesting information. By posting this here and on the village Facebooks, almost before parish councillors could find out, Amanda Hack made it look as though the credit was hers when all she did was write a letter asking for an update before County Council or County Councillor could notify the Parish Council officially.
Were you instrumental in the sourcing of the additional funding?
Thank you for getting stuff done in NWLeics

I have read that even with this money it will be 2030 before waiting lists are down to where they were before COVID. The resolution is not just about money, it’s about reorganising Health and Social Care, improving moral and salaries to a fair wage for the responsibility the staff have. Paying carers enough to continue to do a job they love but who go elsewhere due to unfair work practice especially in social care. Where is all this money coming from for everything this government are proposing. i truly hope this improves things but not soon enough.
Stop foreign aid and bang that money into the NHS as well.
Kick out the illegals free up spaces for British people

🚌 Bus Fares – Good News!
The Chancellor has confirmed the national £3 fare cap will be extended until 2027, great news for bus users.
Buses are vital for connecting our communities here in North West Leicestershire and I’m working hard to push Leicestershire County Council (LCC) for better services.
With an additional £8 million of funding for Leicestershire services and now confirmation of support for the fare cap, we are giving LCC all the tools to help reconnect our communities. ... See MoreSee Less

It’s great to see Vistry Group setting the standard for low-carbon technologies and solar installations on new homes.
Installing solar panels on new build homes, which can save households hundreds of pounds on their energy bills, just makes common sense. We believe they should be included as standard wherever feasible.
I know many people are baffled that this isn’t already the norm. Our plan will change that.

It would help even more if housing was better insulated so we use less gas and electricity and still keep comfortably warm.
It would be great if government would require solar panels on all new warehouses etc instead of taking up valuable countryside with solar farms
This should be compulsory on all new builds industrial, commercial and residential.
